TTS Teaching Atlas Lower Primary

The lower primary teaching atlas supports the lower primary UK geography curriculum.

Overview

Includes high-quality cartography and added content to support the development of key geographical knowledge.

When the lower primary and upper primary teaching atlases are used together throughout primary education, children develop a better understanding of geographical concepts by fostering a sense of place in the world. Atlas content supports well-being by encouraging children to think about their rights, values, and beliefs, empowering them to make informed choices about sustainability and the impacts of their actions.

This atlas includes questions promoting the use of maps and geographical thinking, with additional ‘Challenges’ to deepen understanding. This aligns with Key Stage 1 geography objectives, such as using fieldwork and observational skills to study surroundings.
Developed by Paula Owens from the Geographical Association, this resource helps children understand geographical similarities and differences, name and locate the world’s continents and oceans, and identify characteristics of the four countries and capital cities of the United Kingdom and its surrounding seas.
