Lightweight Silk 1m x 92cm

Finely woven lightweight material for creating stunning textile designs.

Overview

Stretch the silk on a frame to prevent dyes from ‘pooling’, outline a pattern using gutta, leave to dry then paint for an extremely satisfying design process.

A soft, smooth, finely woven material ideal for use by a wide range of ages and abilities when exploring silk painting techniques and surface design. This process emphasises creativity and material exploration and is perfect for educational environments. Paint ‘free style’ or outline patterns with gutta for a more controlled effect to painting on the prepared silk, providing a versatile basis for textile projects.

Supporting the Art and Design curriculum from Key Stage 1 to 3, it facilitates mastering a variety of techniques such as drawing and painting, and promotes the innovative use of materials. Moreover, in Design and Technology at Key Stage 1, it acts as a key resource for creating imaginative products, engaging children in a meaningful way.
With a size of W92cm x L1m, it fits well within classroom settings, enabling efficient pattern design and facilitating textile arts. Through practical activities, it enhances both technical and creative skills, aiding educators in inspiring future artists and designers.
