Helping to Support Teaching and Learning

Hands-On Learning: Fostering an early interest in science, these magnetic wands are specially designed for children to facilitate hands-on exploration of magnetic forces.
Curriculum Aligned: Aids in teaching about forces and magnets through practical observation and experimentation, perfectly aligning with the Year 3 Science curriculum.
Safe Exploration: These wands allow children to safely explore magnetism and magnetic materials.
Interactive Learning: Enhances children’s scientific understanding by encouraging interactive learning that allows them to physically observe magnetic attraction and repulsion.
Supports Scientific Inquiry: Promoting critical thinking, these magnetic wands support the Science curriculum aim of comparing and grouping materials based on magnetic properties.

Magnetic Wands

A hands-on tool for introducing magnetism to children, suitable from age 3 years.

Overview

Designed for engaging classroom magnetic experiments and enhancing understanding of magnetic properties.

The Year 3 Science curriculum emphasises hands-on learning, especially in understanding forces and magnets. These magnetic wands support this learning approach, allowing children to actively engage with magnetism through direct experimentation. This hands-on exposure makes learning more interactive and helps cement scientific concepts.

Using these wands, children can explore magnetic attraction and repulsion, identifying magnetic materials, thereby aligning with curriculum aims. This practical exploration boosts understanding by enabling children to ‘see’ magnetism at work.
When using magnetic resources, it’s crucial to adhere to safety guidelines to ensure a secure learning environment.

Supports the National Curriculum

Science, Year 3, Forces & Magnets

Compare and group together a variety of everyday materials on the basis of whether they are attracted to a magnet, and identify some magnetic materials.

Science, Year 3, Forces & Magnets

Observe how magnets attract or repel each other and attract some materials and not others.

Science, Year 3, Forces & Magnets

Predict whether 2 magnets will attract or repel each other, depending on which poles are facing.
