Overview

Wordless books that tell stories through vivid pictures, fostering early literacy by developing key speaking and listening skills.

These Lilac Band Booster Books are pivotal in transitioning young children from non-readers to early readers, focusing on storytelling through vivid illustrations. By engaging with these books, children learn to narrate and interpret visual stories, thereby enhancing their emergent literacy skills.

In practice, educators can support children by discussing the sequence of images and encouraging descriptive conversations about each scene. This approach aligns with EYFS literacy goals for Reception, particularly in blending sounds into words and reading simple sentences reflective of their phonic knowledge.
