Overview

Grouped into colours for vowels, consonants, consonants that make two sounds, green for digraphs and brown for digraph endings.

Teachers will find these magnetic letters very useful for enhancing phonics learning in the classroom. They support the Year 1 English curriculum by helping children quickly recognise and respond with the correct sounds to graphemes for all forty-plus phonemes, including alternative sounds. These versatile tiles aid in applying phonic knowledge to decode words, practice initial word reading, phonics consolidation, and spelling.

The set contains seventy-three foam magnetic tiles in five colours: red for vowels, yellow for consonants, apricot for consonants that make two sounds, green for ‘h’ digraphs, and brown for digraph endings. This colour coding allows children to identify phonemes and graphemes accurately.
By using these tiles, teachers can create interactive literacy games and activities. They support reading common exception words, blending sounds in unfamiliar words, and encourage children to read aloud accurately from books that match their phonic knowledge level.
