Numicon Number Bond Baseboard Overlays – Set of 6

Enable children to demonstrate their understanding of number facts to ten.

Overview

Images of number bonds to ten on Numicon Board overlays. Engages children with a visual and hands-on approach to enhance understanding.

Understanding number bonds to ten is crucial for children’s mathematical development. These overlays enhance comprehension and retention of key concepts through a hands-on approach. By visually matching Numicon shapes to images of number bonds, children gain a clearer grasp of these fundamental ideas.

The set includes six overlay boards, each measuring 260mm x 260mm. In Year 1, pupils can use these overlays to identify and represent numbers using objects and pictorial representations, including the number line. This supports understanding comparisons such as equal to, more than, less than, most, and least, aligning with the curriculum aim.
For Year 2, the overlays assist in solving problems with addition and subtraction using concrete objects and pictorial representations. Matching Numicon shapes to the overlays helps children grasp quantities and measures. The inclusion of grey versions challenges pupils to look beyond colour matching, fostering a deeper numerical understanding.
