Helping to Support Teaching and Learning

Hands-On Learning: The Tactile Reader Pro enhances programming education by providing a hands-on approach. Children can interact directly with the device, making abstract concepts more tangible and understandable.
Program Debugging: Supports the creation and debugging of simple to complex programs. This feature allows children to identify and correct errors, fostering critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Logical Reasoning: Encourages children to use logical reasoning to explain algorithm functions. This skill is important for detecting and correcting errors, promoting a deeper understanding of programming logic.
Skill Development: Develops key programming skills such as sequence, selection, and repetition. These skills are vital for working with variables and handling various forms of input and output effectively.
Computing Curriculum: Aligns with Key Stage 2 by enabling the design, writing, and debugging of programs. Supports problem decomposition and control or simulation of physical systems.

TTS Tactile Reader Pro

A versatile screen free device for enhancing programming skills with tactile interaction. Children can create sequences by placing the tiles in order, each representing a different command.

Overview

Allows young learners to build and de-bug algorithms for TTS’ Blue-Bot, Loti-Bot and Rugged Robot.

The TTS Tactile Reader Pro enhances children’s programming skills through tactile interaction, making abstract ideas more understandable. It supports Key Stage 1 in creating and debugging simple programs, providing direct interaction with the programming environment.
With the included set of standard movement tiles, children can learn to create, troubleshoot and refine their programs. Debugging is simplified as each tile lights up when working through the sequence.
Up to three tactile readers can be daisy chained together at one time using an easy magnetic connection, enabling children to create longer programming sequences.

For Key Stage 2, it facilitates sequences, selections, and repetitions, aiding students in managing variables and handling inputs and outputs. This hands-on approach encourages exploration and a deeper understanding of programming logic. It assists teachers in explaining algorithms and detecting errors, aligning with the computing curriculum.
Tactile Reader Pro is compatible with Robots manufactured from 2020 onwards. The date of manufacture can be found on the underside of the robot.

Supports the National Curriculum

Computing, Key Stage 2

Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems and solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts.

Computing, Key Stage 1

Create and debug simple programs.

Computing, Key Stage 2

Use sequence, selection, and repetition in programs and work with variables and various forms of input and output.
