Helping to Support Teaching and Learning

Electrical Circuits: Create electrical circuits and enhance technical understanding.
Programming Control: Use computing to program, monitor, and control products with the Crumble’s drag-and-drop interface. Children can design, write, and debug programs, enhancing their technical skills and confidence.
Integrated Systems: Integrated systems offer comprehensive STEM learning. Children gain practical skills in multiple areas.
Practical Maths: Describe position, direction, and movement; apply rotations in practical contexts. This practical approach enriches their understanding of mathematics and how it connects to real-world scenarios.
Technical Knowledge: Supports Key Stage two Design & Technology by teaching children to understand and use electrical systems, including series circuits.

TTS Crumble Robotic Vehicle Class Kit

A STEM kit for 30 pupils, working in groups of three to construct and program a vehicle using the Crumble controller.

Overview

Children can add a headlight that activates in the dark. Ideal for Key Stage two pupils or those familiar with Crumble kits.

The Crumble Kit addresses educational needs by enhancing learning through hands-on construction and programming. Children can build and program a steerable vehicle, fostering understanding of electrical systems and programming in an engaging way. The Crumble controller directly drives two motors and has four input/outputs suitable for LEDs and LDRs, using a drag-and-drop programming language similar to Scratch, ensuring accessibility.

Benefits include aiding children in understanding electrical circuits, and supporting curriculum objectives in Design & Technology and Science for Key Stage Two. For Computing, it assists students in designing, writing, and debugging programs for physical systems.
The Crumble kit includes motors, LEDs, and LDRs, along with supporting materials such as lesson plans, PowerPoints and worksheets. Contents may vary.

Supports the National Curriculum

Computing, Key Stage 2

Design, write and debug programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems and solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts.

Design & Technology, Key Stage 2, Technical Knowledge

Understand and use electrical systems in their products (for example, series circuits incorporating switches, bulbs, buzzers and motors).

Science, Year 5, Forces

Recognise that some mechanisms including levers, pulleys and gears allow a smaller force to have a greater effect.
