Helping to Support Teaching and Learning

Circuitry Essentials: These battery holders simplify circuit assembly for educational purposes, enhancing learning in series circuits for children.
Battery Compatibility: Ensure a consistent 1.5 volts output for various experiments with these holders, specifically designed to accommodate 1 AA battery.
Safety First: Designed with safety in mind, it’s advised to utilise zinc chloride batteries, as they are less likely to cause high temperatures, offering a more secure experience.
Supervised Learning: Supervision by adults is recommended to ensure safe and effective usage, preventing any potential short-circuit mishaps during practical electricity experiments.
Curriculum Support: These holders shed light on circuits in Year 4 and Year 6 Science classes, and bolster Key Stage 2 Design and Technology by integrating electrical systems into pupil’s designs.

Battery Holders 1 x AA

Designed to hold a single zinc chloride AA battery, these holders deliver a 1.5 volts output.

Overview

For optimal performance, please use zinc chloride batteries only. Other types of battery can cause high temperatures in some cases.

Enabling hands-on learning about electricity, these battery holders are crucial for safe, supervised classroom experiments. They allow children to explore electrical circuits, understanding how batteries power up a circuit.

Year 4 science lessons come to life as pupils learn about simple series circuits, identifying components that light up a lamp. Moving onto Year 6, the focus shifts towards understanding how variations in components affect circuit functions. These lessons form a practical foundation in electrical concepts.
Key Stage 2 Design and Technology projects are enriched as pupils learn to incorporate electrical systems, including series circuits, into their designs. This not only aligns with the curriculum but also sparks interest in science and technology.
Please note: Not suitable for use with alkali batteries as overheating issues can arise. Recommended for use with zinc chloride batteries.

Supports the National Curriculum

Science, Year 4, Electricity

Identify whether or not a lamp will light in a simple series circuit, based on whether or not the lamp is part of a complete loop with a battery.

Science, Year 4, Electricity

Construct a simple series electrical circuit, identifying and naming its basic parts, including cells, wires, bulbs, switches and buzzers.

Science, Year 6, Electricity

Associate the brightness of a lamp or the volume of a buzzer with the number and voltage of cells used in the circuit.
